Undead rule the land, although the people of Dessilus believe them to be humans. The undead seem to be looking for something which they think to be in the sands near Dessilus. However, the exposure to the sun destroys the little bits of flesh that still cling to the bones. So, they keep themselves heavily clothed and very rarely show themselves to the simple inhabitants of town.

Dwarves mine the area. They have been mining for so many hundreds of years that they don’t even know what they are mining for anymore. Their intelligence is very low; so many generations living with less than adequate oxygen has taken its toll. The dwarves are kind hearted, and hard working, even if they are lacking in any practical intellect.

Insectiles roam the sands with the herds of buffalo. They are nomadic, and set up tents made of animal skin and bones. Primitive, just like most of the people and places of Dessilus, the “bugs” come to town to trade goods and get supplies. They are at war with the Reptiles. A war that started when a buffalo that was traded had ticks which carried a disease. Some of the reptiles became infected and a few ultimately died. The reptiles vowed to destroy any “bug” from that point forward.

Reptiles are the most cultured of the races of Dessilus. Their weapons are the finest in the desert, and their armor is of fine quality. They live on top of a plateau, and believe themselves to be far superior to the other races in the area. They treat the other races with disdain, and slaughter the insectiles on sight. There are even hunting parties that go out in search of “bug” tribes.

Humans finally come to Dessilus and blow a hole in the cover of the undead, There are only a handful of humans travelling by wagon, but they will help change the town and the way things are done there.

    Sounds sweeping and intriguing.
