Fighting at Work

Back to School

I enjoyed my summer, but it is time to head back to class. Since last semester I stepped down from my position at work. This should help me keep focus on the things which are important.

My desire to become an English teacher has not diminished. In fact, it has only grown. The nature of the business that I am in now does not allow for some of the basic needs of happiness. Demand supersedes all else. If the customer wants it (or even thinks he might want it, they can change their minds on a whim) then it is our responsibility to get it for them. Now I know that some of you may say, “Well my job is the same way”. Probably not. I can’t hope to convey the frustration, but I can give you a piece of my latest toil.

I went in to work to produce our base material. I got there at 6am on Sunday in the hopes to salvage part of my day. I was on schedule to finish up at around 11am, when a call comes in. “The dispatcher misunderstood, you have another load coming in”. What am I to do? I can’t leave the truck loaded. I must stay. I wait for two hours on a truck before finally getting another call. “I am sorry, there was confusion. There is no other truck coming in.”

This is just a glimpse of our everyday. So as you can see, the desire to teach grows more and more with each and every day. I will keep you all abreast of how my classes are going. I am sure that my papers will find their way here as well.

The Blood Beast of Basilton

Our dog, Chompers, inspired me. I created a character in my stories based solely on her. I called her “The Blood Beast of Basilton”. My idea is to have her be the companion of a vampire who lost everything, except his dog. However, the dog gets blamed for all of the lifeless drained bodies. In all actuality, the dog is just fat and lazy. (a spitting image of our Chomps)

I haven’t decided just yet on how to explain the dog’s exceptional long life. Any ideas will be considered and greatly appreciated.

Took a break from running today. I had to do some spider monkey dangling at work, and my forearms are on fire. I am serious, I could almost hear, “You’re the best…around! Nothing gonna ever keep you down!” playing in the background.Granted I wasn’t beating the Cobra Kai, but I felt like I could have. I figure since my race is an obstacle course as well, I can still chalk it up as a training day. (It’s cheating, OK OK I know it)

Cobra Kai

Check back tomorrow, I will be posting a new character sketch. Stop being lazy, though, and check out the pictures I already have posted. (Lazy)

Fantasy is more fun than work!

For starters, let me say that my running is still on pace. (albeit a slow pace, but hey, how fast should you have to be to outrun zombies?) I ran about a mile and a half at a faster pace, just to try to keep my legs strong and my speed up.

Working on a Birdman sketch. I will post the finished project later.  My boss’s boss’s boss came into my work space today while I was drawing it. I certainly wasn’t going to stop drawing at that point. To do so would have been an admission of guilt. My job was being done, and I had an eye on my meters. So I just kept right on going. “Nice drawing. What do you draw?” he asked. I looked at him, puzzled at the question. “Like what types of things do you draw? Do you just make them up?” Ah, now the questions made a little more sense to me. I responded that I usually just doodle characters from the books I am working on. He did not know that I had written any books, and he didn’t really care. The questions turned quickly to work. People do not like to talk about gnomes and such. It is much more comfortable to talk about sweater vests and hair gel.

I am getting a new shirt for V-day! (Don’t you hate when people say Valentime’s day?)

Can anyone can tell me this character’s name and what show he is from?
